On the subject of Hong Kong I um beginning to think that no newspaper ever speaks the truth. As regards T.V. Soong, it may be that he intends to mention Hong Kong when he comes here, but if so he has not disclosed it to the Foreign Office or ny other

Department of the British Covernment You may also have noticed that today's press telegrams from Washington include a remark by Secretary of St.te Byrnes to the effect that the "question of Hong Kong" will be a matter for discussion at the forthcoming conference of Ambus.edorn in London on September 10th. The Foreign Office have no indication of any- thing of the sort and it may be the matter of a Parliamentary uestion before the House adjourns.
